Spring Cleaning to Revamp Your Home in 2023

Spring is the time of year when we all feel inspired to get our houses in order and make them beautiful again. It's also the time when we start thinking about what we're going to do with ourselves this summer. Between those two things, it makes sense that spring cleaning is on your mind right now! Here are some tips for getting started with your spring cleaning project a little early in 2023!

Dust every single surface.

Yes, that’s right! Start your spring cleaning by dusting all of the surfaces in your home. Use a dry microfiber cloth to dust every surface. Dusting with a damp cloth causes water stains, so always use a dry duster. Start at the top of your furniture and work down, including the baseboards and moldings.

Clean the ceiling fans by using an extension pole to reach them or putting them on their lowest setting to get closer. Dust all of your electronics such as TVs, computers and phones. If you have anything lying around on tables or hanging from walls like lights or paintings—dust those too! Dusting your home makes your home feel cleaner and look spotless, too!

Wash your windows and blinds.

You should also clean your windows and blinds during your spring cleaning. Use a window cleaner or solution that you can find at most supermarkets. If they're made of wood, use a squeegee to get them nice and shiny. Rinse with water and dry thoroughly with a towel.

To get rid of dust from blinds, use some cleaning solution on your cloth or sponge and wipe down the sides of each blind until they're spotless. You can also buy special products for this purpose if you'd like!

Donate old clothes, books, toys, etc.

  • Donate old clothes to charities. The Salvation Army or Goodwill takes those items and puts them to good use. If you're feeling particularly generous and need space in your closet, ask friends and family if they'd like any of your old clothes. They may be delighted and surprised by the offer!

  • Donate books and other media items to thrift stores. There are also organizations like Libraries Without Borders, Half Price Books, etc. that accept donations.

  • Donate toys or other children's items instead of letting them sit forgotten on shelves collecting dust over time. As your kids grow out of certain toys, don’t be afraid to give or donate the item to a child who could use it.

Buy new rugs and doormats.

Doormats and throw rugs are great ways to change up the look of a room, bringing in new colors or patterns without taking on too much at once. If you have an entryway where you greet people when they arrive at your house, try adding a beautiful rug as a warm and inviting welcome.

Also, look into purchasing doormats for your front door, back door and garage door. These help keep dirt and mud from getting into your home. Guests are more inclined to wipe their feet off with a nice doormat in front of them.

Hire help if needed - don't hurt yourself!

If you know you need help with some of the heavier cleaning jobs, don't be afraid to hire it out! You may be able to save money by hiring a professional cleaning service. It's all about what works best for your family and home. If hiring someone else seems like more trouble than it's worth, then don't feel bad about doing it yourself!

Spring cleaning should be consistent.

Spring cleaning is not only a one-time thing. Spring cleaning is an annual task that helps start the year on the right foot. It gives you an opportunity to get rid of junk you don’t need and organize your home so that it works for you instead of against you. Taking the time to clean your home once a year before the summer helps you keep a peace of mind while being comfortable in your home! Spring is a wonderful time of year and getting your home cleaned up makes it even better.
