Why Is My Estimate Insanely High?

Rising Costs and Material Shortages

Last year brought us not only a global pandemic, but a strong demand for real estate! The cost of lumber and other building materials have gone through the roof. These issues are hitting the housing industry on all fronts. Buying a home is a hot commodity at the moment, which is causing very intense competition among buyers. With the demand for building materials at an all time high due to the shortage as well.

For homebuilders, renovation contractors, and DIYers, the cost of projects is now far higher than it was just a year ago. Prices have been raised so high, we are about to cross into historic territory. As a result of the shortage of building materials, prices have skyrocketed. Building materials went from being plentiful to scarce, from high demand to occasionally unavailable. Low interest rates are also playing into escalating lumber prices, heating up a demand for housing and giving builders incentive to increase production.

With this big boom we are expecting the trend line to even out in the housing and remodeling industries in the near future. While we of course do not know when exactly this will occur, when the time comes the surge in demand for construction and building materials will also begin to even out. This will allow costs of building materials to lower - as well as renovation and construction costs! Despite all of these challenges, Oriole Home & Design is fully functional and able to work with our clients within their budget. Please understand, we are navigating through cost surges as well. We look forward to assisting you in remodeling the kitchen, bathroom, or basement of your dreams!
